Douglas Hassinger has been practicing Family Law in Atlanta for over 14 years, including 9 years as the principal of his own firm. Doug started his legal career as a general litigator, but quickly decided to focus on helping families through these emotionally trying situations. “I like the immediate feedback that I receive putting families, especially those with children, in a better place,” he commented. “I’m still a litigator and ready for a court fight if necessary, but I always look at all options to best serve my clients’ needs.”

Doug was attracted to Stearns-Montgomery & Proctor due to Mary’s reputation for zealous representation, her willingness to seek litigation alternatives like mediation and collaborative law, and the firm’s team approach to Family Law. Doug added, “The client support staff here is incredible, and clients appreciate that there is always someone familiar with their case available to provide assistance.”

Clients describe Doug as congenial and knowledgeable, able to quickly build relationships, earn their trust, and put their minds at ease. They appreciate Doug’s compassion, as well as his experience with the county courts and judges, which helps him set realistic expectations and partner with his clients to navigate through the complex legal system.

Doug has been an Atlanta resident since 1976. He attended The Westminster Schools, The University of Georgia, and John Marshall Law School. When not practicing law, Douglas is busy chauffeuring his daughters between activities, working on home improvement projects, and volunteering his time at local charities like Habitat for Humanity and in his church community.
